Restrictions on use of Hazardous Products Compliance
This letter pertains to the electronic industry's issues regarding WEEE and RoHS compliant products. To comply with the European Directive 2011/65/EC95 (RoHS) limiting the use of certain materials, we are ensuring that our RoHS compliant components meet the Standard of less than "0.1% by weight per homogeneous material for lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury, PBB and PBDE and 0.01% by weight and per homogeneous material for cadmium”
Several inquiries regarding our transition process need to be addressed:
Question: Will there be changes in part numbering?
Answer: Yes . Assmann WSW components has decided to change part numbers since ALL products must be compliant by July 1, 2006. To avoid confusion the new part numbers for RoHS compliant products will now have a “-R” at the end of our existing part numbers.
Question: Will there be any designation on the products, packaging, or drawings to indicate RoHS compliance?
Answer: Yes. The products themselves will not be stamped or marked. The carton packaging will be labeled accordingly with a RoHS compliant logo. Honoring numerous customer requests, our drawings will also be stamped with a RoHS compliant logo. With the use of the RoHS compliant logo on the packing/spec sheets , it is understood that the presence of each of the “hazardous” substances are in reduced amounts below their proposed maximum concentration values (MCV).
Answer: If it has been confirmed that the products you purchase are already available as RoHS Compliant, you can begin ordering it right away; however, you must specify on your order , via the RoHS compliant part number : "-R" suffix, that you require RoHS Compliant products. We DO NOT automatically assume to order and ship RoHS compliant products even if they are available for that series.
Question: I don’t know if the products that I order are compliant, how do I know? Who do I contact? What if I need them to be compliant at an earlier date?
Answer: If you would like to know if a specific product does conform to the RoHS Standard, submit a request to Sabine Vogel, Product Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org . In case you need a product complying with RoHS at an earlier date, we will check your requirements in detail to assess if it is possible to produce a compliant version or suggest an alternative. Assmann WSW components is making a strong effort to insure that the transition to environmentally friendly products is efficient, while working to meet the needs of our customers. As always we sincerely appreciate your continued use of our products and look forward to a successful business relationship with our customers for many years to come.
